HOW SHE GOT IT

Françoise Bettencourt Meyers is the richest woman in the world, she's the heiress of the L'Oréal fortune. Françoise's grandpa was Eugène Schueller, the founder of L'Oréal. Eugène was a Nazi collaborator through the fascist, antisemitic, anti-communist group La Cagoule. He funded the group, hosted meetings at L'Oréal HQ for them and even employed several of their members. Françoise's dad was also a member of La Cagoule. He wrote over 60 articles for the Nazi magazine La Terre Française in the 1940s.

In 1984 Françoise married Jean-Pierre Meyers, a Jewish man who's grandpa was a rabbi murdered at Auschwitz.

WHAT SHE DOES WITH IT

She and the company gave $226 million to repair the Notre Dame Paris after the 2019 fire. She wrote two books. A study on the bible with 5 volumes and a book about the Greek gods. L'Oréal abhorrent working conditions but she isn't involved much in the company.
